Hi i have powerbox competition srs version v24 and futaba 18sz with two r7008sb receivers my question is how i bind the receivers ,do i bind them with the tx one by one and then connect them to competition srs or something else.when i choose in the manue tx rx setings s-bus for futaba the bind fuction desapiers.both receivers must be in the some mode?i have read in the forum that futabas receivers are augradable with ciu-2 how that is done and were i find the firmware thanks

set both recievers to Mode B. Then connec the PowerBox to RX1 and RX4 with output 8 of the receivers. Update file sent by mail

Connect the receiver to the PowerBox and bind it.
Then disconnect the binded receiver, connect the secound receiver and bind it. Now you can use both receivers. -
Hi I was going to maiden a Jetlegend SU27 this weekend with a competition and two Futaba 7008 receivers but I have just learnt that there is a problem with this combination and that the 7003 works ok
I was told a lot of jets have gone down using the 7008 / competition combination and that I should check it out , have you heard anything of this nature
with two turbines it is to much money to take any chances

the problem is not the combination... the R7008 give wrong Failsafe informations to the S.BUS. The PowerBox will count a lot of failures nad switch all the time between both receivers. I didn´t hear from a crash with our products, you know you have two receivers inside. But you will see a lot of data lockouts on the PowerBox screen after flight. I will send you an update file for this receivers, then all is fine.
You need the CIU-2 Adpater from Futaba to update. Also what version do you have on the PowerBox- not for safety but to know if the lost frame counting in the PowerBox is correct due to the LBT protocol change from Futaba.

could this update be affecting the MERCURY srs unit as well? the r7008sb needs updating?

It would be the best updating this receiver, all SRS systems are identical. So if the receivers gives wrong signal status information all SRS systems will switch too much between the receivers. Also the lost frame counter will be very high.
As you have two receivers- this should not be critical under normal conditions, but in a situation of bad RF environment you may loose safety. -
